For freshmen and transfer students alike, making the transition to university presents unique challenges and opportunities. Here at SWE, we have already overcome some of the obstacles ourselves and would love to be a resource to guide you through the transition to Nevada. Becoming a member in SWE is an excellent opportunity for members to develop professional skills that could potentially land them their dream job. SWE is an active organization on campus, participating in numerous K-12 outreach and professional development events. We host Evening with Industry every spring semester, which is a great opportunity to network with local engineering companies. Members in SWE are also invited to attend a prestigious national conference, that holds a career fair with hundreds of companies that could land you your dream job or internship. So whether you are a civil engineer, mechanical engineer, environmental engineer, materials science engineer, chemical engineer, engineering physics major, geological engineer, electrical engineer, computer science major, math major, physics major, or ANY major at all, if you would like to get involved while making lasting friends and seizing once in a lifetime opportunities, then SWE is the club for you!
"Not only is SWE a networking resource that can help find a dream career, but it's also a place where I have found some of the greatest friends. It's a place where I have learned many skills and have reached out to the schools around us to help increase the engineering community. It's also a place to learn leadership and gain responsibilities that will assist in future endeavors. "

"When I transferred to the University of Nevada from a local community college, I struggled at making friends with similar interests. I had no idea how to break into the engineering field beyond attending my classes, no idea how to write a resume, and not a single clue of where to even start looking for an internship! Since joining SWE, I have made friends with motivated, intelligent women who are heading the same direction that I am. Thanks to resume and professional development workshops, I now have a killer resume and the skills to nail future interviews. Being a member of SWE, I am looking forward to attending their prestigious national conference this fall, where I hope to secure an internship (and maybe even career)."
